For a hundred years, the spectacle of the KeyBank Grand Floral Parade has helped define the Portland Rose Festival as one of the world’s great celebrations. In this — the Rose Festival’s signature event — the larger-than-life all-floral floats, high-stepping marching bands and impressive equestrian units tell a story throughout the grandest parade on the Rose Festival calendar.

Thousands line the streets of downtown Portland in anticipation of the largest single-day spectator event in Oregon.

The Crowne Plaza Portland Downtown is a prime viewing location as the parade marches down Weidler Street directly in front of the hotel.

Our Top 10 Green Travel Tips

At the Crowne Plaza Portland - we take your stay, and the environment - seriously. We’ve gathered together the following top 10 Green Travel Tips for your reference.
1.      Walk & Ride: Make it a car-less vacation. Walk, ride a bike or hop on public transportation to get around. You’ll actually save money while experiencing more of the city.
2.      Bring a bag: Just like at home, bring a reusable bag for shopping!
3.      Tote a travel mug: Spare the landfills by carrying your own coffee mug or refill your water container.
4.      One soap at a time: Most hotels give multiple soaps that all do the same thing. Reduce waste by opening one at a time.
5.      Keep your shower short
6.      Shut off the water while brushing your teeth.
7.      When leaving the room, turn off the air conditioning, heat, television, lights or other electric devices.
8.      Reuse towels instead of having them changed daily. At the Crowne Plaza, hanging towels neatly signals you will reuse them. When in doubt, write a note for housekeeping.
9.      Recycle: The Crowne Plaza Portland provides in-room recycling bins for glass, plastic and paper. If you’re at a hotel with no recycling center, consider taking your empty bottles home to recycle.
10.     Taking home memories: Avoid disposable cameras - bring a digital one!

The Roots

The Roseland Theater and Grill

The Philadelphia based group, The Roots, showed the way for live rap, building on Stetsasonic’s “hip-hop band” philosophy of the mid-’80s, by focusing on live instrumentation at their concerts and in the studio. Although their album work has been inconsistent, more intent on building grooves than pushing songs, The Roots’ live shows are among the best in the business.
